Volunteering for

Slow to load, but worth the wait.

Volunteering for race events for SCCA appeals to all kinds of people. For you adrenalin junkies, Flagging and Communications might be your choice. The workers in white above are all "corner workers" as they are affectionately called. They serve as first responders for all incidents. As you can see above, some incidents can be very intense. Working against the clock, F&C volunteers take just minutes to throw the yellow flag, call in the incident to race control using 2-way radios and detail all the information, scramble to check on the drivers, and clear the track of cars and debris. You'll also notice fire personnel in the picture volunteering for Emergency Services. These workers respond to all major incidents, especially those involving injury or fire. If you have expertise in Emergency Services be it medical or fire fighting, you are needed.  The wrecker personnel are Course Marshals. All you need is a truck suitable for towing to volunteer.

Not shown here, Timing and Scoring volunteers are hurriedly checking which cars are still in the race and sorting out who is leading who after mass confusion on the track. Pit Safety volunteers are monitoring damaged cars coming into the pits and the crews as they race to repair what they can.

For those of you with more tame tastes and still have racing in your blood, there is Paddock, Grid, Comm Tech, Sound Tech, Technical Inspections, and Registrations with a role for you. And there will be plenty of time to see the racing!
